Welcome to Fitness With a Fork! My name is Josh, and my goal with this website is to show people how to live a healthier lifestyle through simple, budget-friendly recipes and fun workouts.

I believe that health and fitness are all about balance – it’s not about completely restricting yourself or going to extremes. It’s about making small, sustainable changes day by day that help you feel stronger, more energetic, and more confident.

My Fitness & Nutrition Philosophy

My approach to eating healthy is keeping things simple and realistic. I love finding ways to make classic comfort foods a little lighter without sacrificing flavor. I have tried most major “trendy diets” like the ketogenic diet, carnivore diet, and vegan diet, and found that some work better for me than others but what worked for me didn’t always work for my wife.

I also focus on using common, budget-friendly ingredients that you can easily find at any grocery store. My recipes don’t call for obscure, expensive ingredients. Food should be accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Regarding exercise, I’ve done free weights, programs like P90X, and Insanity, and then gone the gym route but each had its drawbacks. I currently do most of my exercising via fastpacking, backpacking, and getting outdoors as I found fresh air a requirement for myself.

Today I’m all about keeping things fun and engaging. I post beginner-friendly workouts you can do at home with minimal or no equipment. We’ll do total body circuits, HIIT cardio, pilates-inspired routines, and more. I also share tips for getting started with strength training.

The key is finding forms of movement you enjoy so fitness becomes a sustainable lifelong habit rather than a dreaded chore.

A Bit About Me

I’ve always been passionate about learning and diving into health and fitness. As being former military, working out and fueling my body properly was a key part of my daily routine.

But when I moved on and entered the “real world,” I struggled to find that same balance as there was less time available.

Like many young professionals, my career became all-consuming, and my nutrition and exercise habits fell by the wayside. I found myself drained, out of shape, and relying on quick processed foods way too often.

Lately, after this pandemic blew through I knew things had to change. I started exploring and researching healthy recipes and safe, effective home workouts. Over time, I am working hard to regain my energy, strength, and confidence. And I realized I wanted to help others do the same!

I began sharing recipes and workouts with friends and family and offering help and services where I could. The positive feedback from my growing audience motivated me to launch this website.

My goal is to inspire others to take small daily steps that add up to a happier, healthier lifestyle over time. I truly believe living well is within everyone’s reach with the right guidance and community!
